Mobile T-Hunt Description

This event is 99% mobile. Hunters drive to different locations where they stop and take bearings on the transmitter. Eventually hunters will get so close to the transmitter that they can no longer drive any closer. At that point they must get out of their vehicle and walk a short distance to the transmitter where they scan its QR Code or sign its paper log sheet. Hunters may, or may not, be able to see the transmitter from their vehicle.

Hunt Boundaries: The transmitter will be hidden with 3 miles of the Parkway Info Cabin parking lot. (See the hunt boundary lines on the Hunt Map below.)

Hunt Difficulty Rating: Easy

Special Note to Hunters: This hunt will be a typical T-Hunt. That means you are going to have to drive around to find it. Don’t worry, it’s NOT a County Wide T-Hunt or a City Wide T-Hunt. This transmitter will be hidden within 3 miles of the Starting Location. There will be a very, very short walk at the end of the hunt. We call this type of T-Hunt a “Park-N-Grab” because you can park within a couple of feet of the transmitter. You will probably see it from your vehicle. Since this is the BONUS Transmitter, you will need to use your own radio to transmit DTMF Tone #1 to activate it. Upon hearing DTMF Tone #1 the BONUS Transmitter will transmit a series of unique tones for 60s before returning to listening mode. Here’s the catch: you’ve got to first figure out which 2 meter frequency it’s on. The easy way to do that is to first find the MSRDF Audio Transmitter which is hidden on the grounds of the 3rd Saturday Expedition this morning. Its transmitting on 146.565. That transmitter will have the exact frequency of this BONUS Transmitter written on the side of its box and on the log sheet next to it.
